SEMEY STATE MEDICAL UNIVERSITY

Semey State Medical University – is one of the biggest higher medical education establishments of Kazakhstan Republiс, which has its own teaching hospital with the branches in the Pavlodar city. The biggest dynamics of university’s infrastructure development is given to intensive growth opportunities of the educational, scientific and innovational prosperity.

There are 8 faculties with more than 3685 students from all regions of Kazakhstan, from the neighboring countries and far abroad, and around 2000 doctors improve their qualification on postgraduate level

 medical services for rendering of medical and diagnostic assistance on the basis of own clinical
base – Medical center.

Teaching staff consists of about 450 teachers.
Public health school, nursing school, management school, and school of young teacher,
center for future resident and center for future Master’s degree were established on the base of our
university. There are about 9 scientific schools.
There is electronic catalogue in the library. There is WEB gateway on the site of the
university.
There is computer class with access to Internet and Cochrane library in the library of the
university.
Reference, scientific and educational information is kept on electronic and magnetic media in
the hall of electronic resources of the library. The number of electronic and digital publications is
about 8400 copies. The fund of the library is increased regularly with electronic scientific,
educational and methodical materials developed by teachers of the university.

One of the most important indicators of success of educational programs of Semey Sate
Medical University is percent of employed graduates – more than 98 % for the last 3 years.
Annually, the university conducts questioning of employers to find out the level of their satisfaction
with qualification of graduates. Questioning data for 2014 year shows high satisfaction level with
qualification of our graduates: at the level of internship – 87,9 %, at the level of Master’s
programme – 93,3. Highest satisfaction level of employers with qualification of graduates is exactly
at the level of residency. The data for 2014 year show 98,3 % of satisfaction. Results of questioning
of employers are compared with results of questioning of graduates. It allows us to find out
presence or lack of so-called “separation” of higher medical education from requirements of
practical healthcare. Therefore, questioning data of residency graduates’ employers (93%
satisfaction with qualification of graduates) correlate with results of questioning of residents (90%
satisfaction with their qualification).
